In biology and psychology, the term X effect describes phenomenon seen in many species whereby males show continuously high sexual performance given the introduction of new receptive females. The X effect has sometimes been mentioned as an explanation of why pornographic images (of the female) are exciting to the male when first purchased, but after repeated viewing can "lose its effect." X is incidentally named after an American President. Gimme X.
